Eric Lopez
Eric López has been in the Parks & Recreation field since 2007, including last 10 years in different roles with the City of Fort Worth. In his current role as District Superintendent with the Park & Recreation Department, where he oversees 5 Community Centers and a city-wide literacy program, a $3.5M budget and 60 staff. He recently championed the renovation and expansion of the largest Community Center in Fort Worth as part of a 5.4-million-dollar capital project. Prior to joining the City of Fort Worth, he worked 7 years as the Programs Director for the Salvation Army on his native Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, where he led their afterschool program, summer day camp and launched their first licensed pre-school facility.
Eric holds a master’s degree in Kinesiology and a bachelor’s degree in physical education, both from the University of Puerto Rico in Mayaguez, PR. He is a Certified Parks and Recreational Executive (CPRE) through NRPA and a CPR/First Aid/ AED certified instructor. He is a founding member and Vice-Chair of the Hispanic Professionals in Park & Recreation networking group. In 2023, he was appointed to the National Certification Board (NCB) with NRPA where he is scheduled to serve as Chair beginning January 2025.
Outside of work, you will find him mostly at the DFW baseball/softball parks on games and practices with his children. He also likes to spend time with family, workout, travel, go to the beach, practicing/watching sports and reading.
